On June 19, all the affected outlets of banking financial institutions in Sichuan resumed business, with 12, 689 outlets in the whole province operating normally.
Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan caused miserable casualties and property losses to the banking financial institutions, with a total of 5,497 business outlets affected, 43.32% of the total number of the outlets throughout the province. After the earthquake, the China Banking Regulatory Commission and Sichuan provincial government took a rapid response, organizing the regulatory departments at all levels and banking financial institutions to carry out earthquake relief and post-disaster financial services with the key of “rescuing personnel, reducing losses, maintaining orders and restoring services”, to order the financial services in disaster areas. There were 715 outlets being seriously affected resumed operation by creating a variety of conditions, including 142 tent-banks, 18 mobile-banks, 96 temporary-hired outlets, and 459 outlets jointed nearby ones to provide convenient and efficient financial services to the people in the disaster area.
According to the report, the banking financial institutions affected by Wenchuan earthquake in Chongqing, Gansu, Shaanxi also resumed business. CBRC official said at the time all the financial institutions in the banking industry resumed operation, a comprehensive service capabilities should also be resumed as soon as possible to increase its financial support for reconstruction work. |
